TRANSPORT ALERT    Friday 04 Mar, 12 noon.
I’ve just been made aware that planned track works this weekend means there’ll be no train services to Lewisham (or any station between Strathfield & Central) on Sat 05-Apr-25. A replacement bus service is expected.

Plan ahead & allow extra travel time to negotiate the system.

Fyi, the L1 light rail line & Lewisham West stop is nearby and maybe an option.

A 15km urban walk along bayside paths and streets from Lewisham to Balmain in Sydney’s inner west. It’ll take in Hawthorn Canal, Iron Cove, Callan Park, Birchgrove, Tom Uren Walk, and the Balmain East waterfront. It’ll take us about 4 hours to complete. Fortuitously or intentionally we finish at the London Hotel in Balmain, where we can share drinks and food if you so desire.

Meet at Maia Specialty Cafe (opens at 8am) in Victoria St opposite Jubilee Lane and just on the south side of the Lewisham Station. Click the Meetup Button below for directions on Google Maps.

Be sure to bring snacks, sunhat and your Opal card. Poles are not necessary.

Note the walk starts near a train station, and finishes near bus services to the city, so using public transport to get to and from is a good option. No car shuffle is being arranged.
