ADVENTURE REPORT
Rain was forecast for the entire day last Saturday, but that didn’t deter 8 crazy walkers including 2 newbies from doing this amazing 12.5km urban walk along the coast from Bondi Beach pavilion to Maroubra Beach pavilion. Even before we started, one dedicated & eager walker had clocked up 9km having walked from her home to the start in the rain. Well done Lisa.

The inclement weather meant this popular coastal route was quiet which was nice. The scenery was just amazing … sandy beaches big & small, rugged headlands and secluded rocky bays & cliffs, amazing houses, at least two big popup waterfalls (storm water outlets ), crashing & churning surf, and incredible views up and down the coast. Our route took us along sea level paths, wooden broadwalks, high cliff top paths, and along the odd street or two. At one point we stopped and watched stranded surfers attempt to retrieve their wayward boards.

Did it rain? Yes, but mostly a continuous light drizzle with occasional dry spells. We did have a 5-10 minute heavy downpour at one stage. Fortunately there wasn’t any wind to speak of and it wasn’t cold in our brightly coloured rain gear. As one walker remarked and I quote … “the weather’s not too bad actually”.

We concluded our adventure with a lovely lunch & drinks with sweeping views across a deserted Maroubra Beach.

Thanks for your great company Carolyn, Di, Jacquie, Lisa, Mary-Lou, Michelle & Susan

Until next time …
Yours in adventure Nick

CHANGES IN BLUE
I have checked the parking availability & convenience at Bondi & Maroubra. They both have large areas of paid expensive parking and it is limited to 2 & 4 hours only. Accordingly, the meetup arrangements have changed.

This is a one way walk and can be made into a loop with public transport. so a car shuffle or public transport is required before and after.

For those coming by public transport …
meet at the start here at 9:30am. 8:45am.

For those coming by car  …
meet near the finish here at 8:30am. Parking is free and unrestricted. We will then use public transport (two buses) to get to the start. Don’t forget to bring your Opal Card. Tap the Meetup Button below for directions. and we’ll car pool to the start.

There are many cafes on or near the route. There are cafes at both meeting points.

Short course options: There are many places along the route where you can check out if you want a shorter course. Most beaches and suburban areas we pass will have public transport options. Let us know and we can help work it out with you.
