ADVENTURE REPORT
Carmel, Sarah, Françoise, Nick and Rosie met at the trail head, the breeze hand a nip to its and the clouds that tucked into the valley overnight were still rising and shape shifting. We could have watched them all day. The sky was already looking spectacular. It was so vibrantly blue today.

We’d only walk about 30 steps and found a medically significant female mouse spider. It had a distinctive black carapace and displayed magnificent defensive behaviour. I actually thought it was a funnel web spider but it wasn’t.  I had the spider photo identified by spider ID specialists that afternoon and learned that was in fact a mouse spider. I was told these spiders are medically significant and if bitten, treat the bite as though it were a snake bite and call 000 or activate your PLB.

Anyway after the spider came butterflies, warm sunshine, specky views and amazing ancient aboriginal rock carvings.  Best of all it was a walk with wonderful NBREA friends.

Looking forward to the next one …
Yours in adventure Rosie & Nick

An easy to medium walk amongst the beautiful mountain heath and the views are breathtaking. It’s a great location to watch eagles soaring in the winds. This is an out and back walk along a narrow trail and has a distance of 6.9km.

Refreshments/light lunch is available in Blackheath after the walk.

Park & meet at the car park on the side of the road. Stop on the bitumen road before it changes to dirt. Click the Meetup Point button for directions. From there we’ll walk up to Hat Hill and then out to Bald Head.
