ADVENTURE REPORT
A warm and very muggy morning saw 23 walkers take on this adventure from Northbridge to Artarmon. What it lacked in distance, it made up for in variety and delights, and amazingly, all only 4km north of Sydney’s iconic Coat Hanger (as the crow flies) !!!

Our sweat and efforts were rewarded with glimpses of Middle Harbour, scuttled boat wrecks, lush almost tropical bush at times, bubbling streams, tall trees, stepping stones, lots of steps, hills, fields, choruses of saccatas, a medieval castellated bridge, an avantgarde waste disposal relic and mid-walk cafe, an amphitheater for sobriety and poetry, and the underbelly of a motorway.

Afterwards most enjoyed a variety of cuisine in little eat street where we first met. One waiter in particular couldn’t have been more excited and attentive by our patronage.

DETAILS
A pretty 7.5km one way walk through Sydney’s inner northern suburbs from Northbridge to Artarmon along bush tracks and paths via Turks Park and Flat Rock Gully. Approx 3 hours. We’ll walk under the mediaeval looking Long Gully Bridge, and stop halfway for coffee and/or snack at the historic Naremburn Incinerator, one of 12 or so designed by Walter Burley Griffin. It was an early solution for Sydney’s garbage problem.

Meet at The Wilkes cafe Artarmon near the station. (Cafe opens from 6:30am). Tap the Meetup Button below for directions. Parking available in nearby streets east of the station. We’ll then car pool to the start in Northbridge.

After the  walk, refreshments or a light lunch can be had in the eat street where we first met.
