ADVENTURE REPORT
Eleven eager beavers joined this adventure yesterday with the forecast hot weather looming. We started early and walked and talked our way around the 10.5km Parramatta River shoreline of Hen & Chicken Bay from Cabarita to Abbotsford. We managed a good pace avoiding the worst of the heat and capitalised on the air conditioning and cool beverages at the Sydney Rowing Club afterwards.
The walk included lovely water views, riverside properties, and walking paths & parks. Di, who lived in the area some 30 or so years ago gave those in earshot some interesting historical insites from current upmarket estates built on previous rubbish tips to piggeries with water front pastures. Towards the Abbotsford end we wandered through the stables and grounds of Sydney’s old Animal Quarantine Station, and chatted briefly about it’s history too.
As always what made the walk was the good company and good friends. Well done Carmel, Cathy, Di, Jacquie, Maria, Mary-Lou, Rob, Sharon, newbie Steph, and Sue.
Until next time …
Yours in adventure Nick

New stuff …

Apart from the almost continuous river views and amazing waterfront properties, we’ll walk through Sydney’s Old Animal Quarantine Station in Abbotsford, relocated here when the Taronga Zoo outgrew it’s Moore Park site, a story that will be told.

Short course option: The walk follows the meandering shoreline. Shortcuts can be taken at various points along the way to shorten the distance. Let me know on the day and I’ll point them out as we come to them.
