ADVENTURE REPORT
After a slow start with parking issues and forgotten Emergency Envelopes, 15 of our tribe headed off to the train station for the short commute to our start in Kingsgrove. Our first view of Wolli Creek was very underwhelming, with the broad concrete culvert being in stark contrast to what we expected a creek to be. It was just a large storm water drain. By the end of our walk however, some 9km later, the creek turned into a large wide river and joined the Cooks River not far from the airport. In between these extremes, we enjoyed a shaded meandering walk along the Twin Valley Trail (TVT) through a surprisingly beautiful green bush strip tucked between the M5 and the T8 railway line in inner Sydney. It was a trail a number had done before, but in a different direction, and not as far. They certainly hadn’t done Nick’s deviations involving some less used and overgrown paths and questionable tracks. The towering rock face in Earlwood was a surprize, as too was the large and smelly bat colony, and the historic and quaint Jackson Place stone cottages. The walk concluded with some sharing Vietnamese street food at a local restaurant in Wolli Creek.

Thanks for a great morning Marian, Jenny, Megan, Carmel, Mary, Richard, Kaye, Susan, Johan, Sue, Grace, Cathy, Rob, and Mary-Lou. A good walk, and great company. Kudos to Jenny and Richard too, who both walked about 7km from their homes to the start, and then back home again.

Yours in adventure Nick
