ADVENTURE REPORT
Hey Everyone … Marian, Barbara, Eileen, Richard and Rosie had a great day out walking to Megalong Road via Nellies Glen and the Six Foot Track, and then back again (23km). As we walked kangaroos popped up cautiously from the tall grass to watch us only to bound off in the opposite direction. We found the elusive Megalong cemetery which lies between two ancient Aboriginal access routes and a traditional burial ground. We pondered over who Nellie was and proposed a range of scenarios to explain why she had a Glen named after her. As it turns out Nellie was the daughter of entrepreneur John Britty North who was involved in the booming mining industry in Katoomba in 1879-1880. More interesting though; Nellie’s Glen is home to one of Australia’s rarest plant species, the Dwarf Mountain Pine. It was a really great day and the weather was perfect. Our day ended with dinner in Katoomba and a well earned rest.

Yours in adventure Rosie
