ADVENTURE REPORT
The Thorsborne Trial was our first interstate adventure and it was simply stunning in every way. It was our most challenging to date and also the most rewarding. The uninhabited unspoilt island national park in far north Queensland delivered in spades.

We were thoroughly spoilt with four days of pristine sandy beaches, clambering around rocky headlands, walking through mangroves forests, slopping through swamps, boulder hoping across water courses and beaches, wading through crystal clear streams & rivers (63 all up), scrambling across rocks, negotiating roots & trip hazards galore, walking through lush undergrowth and majestic paper gums, enjoying incredible views of the coast and towering mountains (many mysteriously shrouded in clouds), sleeping in tents through long, very quiet, and star & moon lit nights, drinking in mesmerising views, seeing beautiful waterfalls, swimming in refreshing lagoons & waterholes, and finally wading out in waist high sea water to board our return boats.

Although not a long adventure at only 35km or so, it was very technical and made harder with each of us carrying 13 to 18kg backpacks of food, water, cooking, and camping gear. Our days started at first light and we were tucked up in our tent beds soon after dusk at 6:30pm, having enjoyed our dinners of freeze dried delights and treats of wine & dehydrated ice-cream !!!

All participants stepped up, and took on the very physical challenges confronting them with determination and a smile. Everyone was very supportive and great company. All in all a fantastic adventure was enjoyed by all. Well done and fantastic effort Di, Sue, Carlene, Rob, Barb, Francoise, Tracy, Rosie and Nick. Thanks for this amazing and very memorable experience.
Yours in adventure Rosie & Nick
