ADVENTURE REPORT
Eleven cheerful and excited walkers set out from Macquarie’s Obelisk near Circular Quay for the 5 day walk to Emu Plains. Many joined on day 1 only, a few joined on other days too. The walk meandered its way west following the Parramatta River to it’s source, then along Toongabbie Creek and other creeks and green spaces through the urban jungle of Greater Western Sydney. Overnight stays were taken mainly at pubs along the way.

Among the highlights were the many interesting historical sites and stories told by each of the walkers along the route … Barangaroo, the Walker Estate, the Female Factory, the Chinese Gardens and Wianamatta Regional Park to name a few. In Blacktown, the team came second at the pub Trivia night, and in Colyton we all learnt about probability in a game called Farkle which had us in fits of laughter. The surprize afternoon tea of scones, jam and cream at Deb’s place was a treat too.

After 134km and a lot of sweat and weary steps, the final four remaining walkers arrived in Emu Plains and shared a drink and an embrace to celebrate their amazing achievement.
