Past adventure.

ADVENTURE REPORT
Last Sunday 16 of our tribe took a leisurely 13km walk around La Perouse and the Kamay-Botany Bay National Park in Sydney’s mid south east. The weather, although overcast, was great after a week of drenching rain and the wind was having the day off too.
We wandered along paths and narrow bush tracks. We crossed beaches, and past monuments, a fortified island, old WW2 defence emplacements, and a cemetery.
We took on rock shelves and discreetly skirted three golf courses along the way. All the while we enjoyed the beautiful glimpses and panoramas afforded to us across Botany Bay, and latter along the rugged coastline we followed. Did we see any whales? Unfortunately no, but we did notice the big ocean swell as we crossed the bridge to Cape Banks.

Afterwards we shared a meal & drink at the local sailing club with half the suburb in attendance.

It was a great walk with great company and much energetic chatter. Thanks Narelle, Charm, Eileen, Richard, Carmel, Joanne, Lorielyn, Chantal, Lisa, Dyese, Jacquie, Terry, Barb, Maureen, and Sue.

Special thanks to Terry for his enthusiastic assistance, guidance, and local knowledge leading up to and during this walk.

Until next time …
Yours in adventure Nick

ADVENTURE DETAILS
A 13km loop walk, mainly bush/offroad with a bit of urban, in the La Perouse, Kamay Botany Bay National Park area on Sydney’s mid south east coast. We’ll take in Yarra Bay, the La Perouse headland, Henry Head, Cape Banks, some rugged coastline, and Little Bay.
It’s a fairly easy walk and involves walking on concrete paths, dirt tracks, rock shelves, short beaches, and grass. The short section of coastal rock ledge walking will be the most difficult. It should take us about 4 hours to complete. Be sure to pack a jacket, raincoat & sunhat as it is quiet exposed and we’ll be at the mercy of the elements somewhat.
Meet at the Daily Dose Cafe (opens 6am to 1pm). Free untimed street parking. Bus stop 100m away (buses 390X & 394X). Tap the Meetup Button below for directions on Google Maps.
Afterwards, if there is interest, we can have refreshments and/or dine at the Yarra Bay Sailing Club a short walk away.

Our route on Komoot.
