ADVENTURE REPORT
Nine of our tribe started the day last Sunday huddled out of the cold and out of the wind in a cafe in Forestville. Once fuelled and prepared we ventured out and explored the nearby forested valleys and the beautiful tracks within.

We soon warmed up, as did the day, and in no time we were immersed in what felt like very remote and very isolated bushland. Surprisingly though we were never far from suburbia, always hidden & quiet in the background nearby.

The 16.5km course was quite technical with lots of rocky challenges, but it was very beautiful, very quiet, and enjoyed by all. For most of the walk, below and to our left, and visible through the trees, was the tranquil & quiet waters of Middle Harbour.

Early on we visited The Bluff Lookout which afforded us a great open view of the area. Here Michelle, a keen & professional historian amongst us, gave us an informative spiel about the many abandoned munitions & gun powder magazine buildings on the shores below. Thanks Michelle 🙏

The track continued up and down and around the harbour all day. Midway through we popped out into Davidson Park, under the Roseville bridge, where we stopped for lunch.

After that the track was more open & easier. The final section was delightfull as we made our way up & along Carroll Creek which was very pretty and very rainforest like.

Well done team, a great walk and a great effort. Thanks for your amazing company & friendship Bruce, Di, Jacquie, Marian, Mary-Lou, Michelle, Narelle, and Sue.
Until next time …
Yours in adventure Nick
DETAILS
Changes made 17 Jul 24 shown in blue.
A 16.5km loop walk skirting the suburban perimeter of Forestville and Killarney Heights in Sydney’s north. The main part is a beautiful and remote 12.5km bush walk along the shores of Middle Harbour & Caroll Creek. Bookending this at the start and finish, to make it a loop walk, is a short stretch on suburban streets. It’ll take us about 5 hours to complete.
Bring your poles, snacks & a picnic lunch to eat along the way.
CHANGE TO MEETUP POINT …
Meet at the Tilt Cafe in Forestville, opens 6:30am. Tap the meetup button below for directions. Unrestricted on street parking available on Sunday in the area. The Forestville Memorial Hall carpark here is a good option. Don’t use the Coles carpark.

Another option is to join the group at the 9km point and walk the final easier 6km part. Please contact Nick to discuss the options and logistics / timings.
