ADVENTURE REPORT
It was a great Hikeabout around the Waverton shoreline and Balls Head Reserve in inner Sydney yesterday. Overcast skies didn’t deter the 22 enthusiastic walkers, many meeting for the first time since recent overseas adventures, so much chatter was the order of the day.

We wondered along paths and bush tracks and shared amazing views of Sydney Harbour, the city skyline and local bays, from many vantage points on this prominent headland. The rehabilitated old BP fuel storage site with its many towering cylindrical clearings carved out of the sandstone rock where massive tanks once stood was very interesting. As too was the Coal Loader and passing through one of the four long tunnels that were a part of that large coal bunkering facility, a past industrial Sydney eyesore and contentious industrial complex constructed and operated in the bygone era of coal powered merchant ships.

After more than 30,000 words were spoken and a lot less steps, we returned to where we started. We then parted ways with some heading home, some walking onto the city, and some enjoying a glass of red wine and a yummy Vietnamese lunch at a local cafe. Thanks everyone one for a great morning.

Yours in adventure Nick
