ADVENTURE REPORT
Under beautiful blue skies, 12 curious adventurers journeyed to Liverpool yesterday, intrigued and eager to explore the unfamiliar neighbourhood of Chipping Norton in Sydney’s far south west.

An easy, flat 11.5 km walk unfolded – first crossing, then gently meandering alongside the Georges River. Along the way, we passed the quiet charm of Lake Moore, the expansive beauty of Chipping Norton Lake, and a mysterious stately home (*).

Green parklands and groves of trees lined the shores, and provided us a peaceful, leafy corridor beneath the warm spring sun. Not even the brief interruption of the excessively loud “duff duff” van could spoil the mood. In these unexpectedly picturesque surroundings, we rambled, chatted, and (naturally) solved the world’s problems.

Thanks to Jill and Farhad our story tellers, who – after we tentatively then fearlessly waded across the 30 metre wide river causeway – shared some fascinating stories and local insights from personal experiences and acquaintances.

All in all, although a little rough around the edges, the walk gave us a fresh perspective on the area, and we were all glad to have made the journey.

Thanks to Jen, Les, Jill, Jacquie, Eileen, Farhad, Maureen, Sue, Dick, Narelle, and Barb for your great company, continuing support, and enthusiastic spirit.

Until next time…
Yours in adventure Nick

(*) Sue, you asked the question, you know the answer.

DETAILS
A mystery no more. An easy and unpretentious 11km walk in the Liverpool area along the shores of the Georges River, Lake Moore, and Chipping Norton Lake. The course is technically very easy and very flat. It follows sealed paths and grass & dirt tracks through the green spaces beside the river and around the lakes. It should take around 3.5 hours to complete.

There will be one long shoes off very shallow river crossing at the beginning, so bring sandals and be prepared to get wet feet. Hiking poles would be handy on this bit. The remainder of the course is dry.

Meet at the Food Express cafe on the Liverpool Station concourse; caffeine fixes available from 7am. Tap the Meetup Button below for directions on Google Maps.

Getting to this walk by public transport is your best bet; take a train to Liverpool Station. Coming by car will be more problematic, I’ll leave it to you to work it out.

At the end of the walk, we’ll be catching the M90 bus back to Liverpool Station. Don’t forget to bring your Opal card.

As usual, bring snacks & drinks to consume along the way. Bring a hat too as the route is quite open in parts.

Our route on Komoot.
