DETAILS
Our annual Christmas Walk this year is a lovely 13km one way bush walk in Sydney’s inner north west from Chatswood Station to Top Ryde. We’ll follow a number of creeks and the Lane Cove River, walk part of the Great North Walk, and pass through the Field of Mars Reserve. It’s mainly narrow bush tracks, it’s very picturesque, and it’s usually quiet. Amazingly there’s only one major road crossing despite the distance and passing through a busy urban area.

It’ll take us 3 to 4 hours to complete. We start at a cafe and finish at a pub. What more could you ask for at Christmas !!!

PS: For swimming tragics, we can have a dip in the Lane Cove River on route, but pack some sandals to wear as it’s a bit rocky & shelly underfoot.

MEET AT Mrs Fields Bakery Cafe Chatswood Station (opens at 6:30am). It’s directly opposite the station entrance on the eastern side.

BRING hiking poles, snacks to eat along the way, and lots of Christmas spirit.

GETTING TO & FROM

• Public transport is the best option for this adventure. We start at Chatswood Station (train & metro), and finish at Top Ryde on a major bus route to the city or to West Ryde or Parramatta Stations, buses 501 or 500X.
  
  
• If you’re coming by car, I recommend you park free here near Top Ryde, and then bus it to Chatswood, bus 516 or 533. Let me know privately if you’re doing this and I’ll meet you at 7:30am and we can go together.

FESTIVE COLOURS
Let’s dress up a bit and wear some festive colours and accessories. It’s a good time for your red t-shirt and Santa hat, or maybe just some tinsel and glitter. Don’t hold back.

AFTERWARDS for those interested we can share a drink and dine at the Royal Hotel, Top Ryde.

LUNCH ONLY
If you can’t come on the walk, you’re most welcome to join us for lunch afterwards. It’ll be at about 1pm at the Royal Hotel, Top Ryde. Please let me know by registering Unable and indicating Lunch only in the comments.
